Water Games For Your Kids (That Don’t Waste Water)

  • Water Games For Your Kids (That Don’t Waste Water)

Water GamesWith the weather heating up, your kids are probably begging you to just turn on the sprinklers and let them run around. However, turning on your sprinklers in the middle of the day is quite the waste of water. Below are a few water games you can play with your kids that will cool them off without wasting too much water. Stay tuned for more games and activities later this month!

    Sponge Ball Fight
Create sponge balls with kitchen sponges for a fun water fight. Cut each sponge into three strips, and then stack 6 pieces on top of each other. Wrap a rubber band around the middle, and then fluff the sponges so that they look better. Fill up a bucket of water for each child, and then let them go! It’s like a water balloon fight without the messy clean up!

    Water Piñata
Purchase a couple of 5 gallon trash bags from Walmart or the Dollar Store, and fill one with water. Tie it up with a strong knot, and then use a rope to sling it from a tree. Give your kids a bat or a strong stick, and let them take turns whacking away. You could also fill up a few large water balloons if you have those on hand.

    Drip, Drip, Splash
Another fun game you can play is a version of Duck, Duck, Goose called Drip, Drip, Splash. You will need a few small dixie cups and a bucket of water for this game. Sit everyone in a circle, and whoever is “It” fills up a cup with water. They go around the circle dripping a little bit of water on each person until they choose someone to pour the whole cup on. That person is the “goose” so to speak, and they will chase their friend around the circle, trying to catch them before they sit in their spot. Just make sure that everyone gets a turn!

    Water Balloon Hot Potato
Fill up a couple of water balloons, and place them in a bucket. Set your kids and their friends in a circle, and play some music. After a few moments, stop the music. Whoever is holding the water balloon has to pop the water balloon over the person’s head to their left. The water gets everywhere! Often, the water balloons will drop and splash halfway through the music as well, soaking everyone nearby.
