Five-Star Rootx Service
Since 1971, we’ve been providing five-star Rootx service to home and business owners of the Salt Lake Valley.
What is Rootx?
ROOTX is a patented, non-systemic chemical root control formula. Non-systemic means the chemical is not taken up into the tree or plant, and only kills the roots that it contacts. Dichlobenil, the active ingredient in ROOTX, not only kills roots but also prevents root regrowth for up to one year. ROOTX is the number one environmentally safe and easy to use, root killer available today.
How Does it work?
ROOTX is supplied as two dry powders in one container. When water enters the container, the two powders mix to form a sticky foam. This foam fills the entire pipe and coats the roots and the pipeline surfaces with the ROOTX formula. ROOTX will leave a deposit above the water line that will continue to kill roots and inhibit new growth for up to 12 months.
The active ingredient in ROOTX, Dichlobenil, is used at a concentration of .55% or 5500 parts per million, which is 55 times the minimum rate required to kill exposed root tissue from 30 minutes to one hour.

Depend on the Rootx Experts!
Extensive Knowledge & Training
Here at Electric Rooter, our plumbers are certified sellers and technicians of RootX chemicals. We have extensive knowledge of the capabilities and requirements to get the most effective use out of RootX. Please give us a call so we can help you decide if RootX is the right choice for you!
Environmentally Safe
ROOTX does not contain Copper Sulfate or Metam Sodium, which are harmful to the environment and to bacteria/fungi, which normally decompose dead roots. These two chemicals also have harmful effects on wastewater treatment plant biology. ROOTX’s patented combination of chemicals helps promote and speed-up the natural decomposition of the dead roots. This unique ability to perform both the root killing and removal function while being environmentally safe is exclusive to ROOTX.
We Can Save You Money
ROOTX can be used with or without mechanical root-cutting equipment. Some situations such as a root blockage will require mechanical removal of roots. Mechanical removal is an excellent short-term solution. However, if the roots are cut and left untreated (just like pruning a tree or a bush), they will come back bigger and stronger. This process will eventually destroy a sewer line and require the line to be dug up and replaced. The replacement of a sewer line would cost much more than an annual treatment with ROOTX.
