Salt Lake City Wonderland

Salt Lake City Utah is a fun, family-friendly, religious oriented place where you can take your children, spouses, and extended family. It is full of water parks, restaurants, and local attractions. My first time in Salt Lake City for a fun outing was with my family and my sister and her children. My older sister had told us about the “Pass of all Passes” to all Seven Peaks establishments. We bought passes for my entire family and we were really excited for our first time at the waterpark. My sister invited us to ride along with her and her six children. We went in the middle of June, which was the perfect time of year to go. During the summer Utah is always hot. When we arrived we had a perfect, beautiful view of the Wasatch Front. Gorgeous mountains with snow just on their tips. We found a parking spot about a block down the road. I Noticed the parking lot was packed and my sister mentioned it is better to go earlier in the morning when the park isn’t so crowded. My boys went off with their cousins and kept busy by going on all the cool slides and water obstacle courses. My sister and I laid out tanning while the kids played. It was nice to relax and then cool off in the water. It was a nice relaxing summer day with family.

Another favorite experience was with my brother in law, his wife, and their children. They were in Utah to go to a family wedding. While they were here visiting from Poland they wanted to go out to Lunch at the Red Iguana. The restaurant is located in the Western part of Salt Lake City. It is Authentic Mexican food and they have amazing enchiladas, chimichangas, fish tacos, and Chile Relleno burritos. They are a family-friendly restaurant and the kids menus were great. My kids are always the ones that go to a Mexican food place and order a burger and fries. It always cracks me up.  During lunch, we were able to talk, laugh, and become closer despite noisy kids, music, and the usual chatter among the different groups. Overall it was a really fun afternoon with great food and company..

Our last experience in Salt Lake City was for a birthday party for my middle son.  Our next door neighbor invited all my boys to go paintballing. The party was at “Utah Xtreme Paintball” so they really wanted to go. My boys had a lot of fun the last time they were there for a cousins birthday party so they were super excited to go again. This time was a little different. Instead of actual paintball with high-powered, Co2 paintball guns, the guns were plastic, spring-loaded and not so “high-powered” like we were used to. So, it was not really “Extreme” paintball. The building had really gone downhill since our last visit and seemed run down.  I noticed there were multiple water leaks in the ceiling, with very large water damage spot in the ceiling. The spectator cameras were not all working as well so you couldn’t watch the game going on. But worst of all, it was the cleanliness. There were broken paintballs all over the turf field and sticky, nasty paint all over the place. So when you crouched down to hide you would get nasty paint all over you and your clothes. The paint was so soaked into the carpet that when you moved at all you would slip and slide all over the place. Overall it was not a fun experience. The only thing “Xtreme” was how rundown the building was. It was definitely a huge letdown from the previous time.  I would recommend actual paintball unless you have little children or children that do not tolerate pain very well. If the ages are around 8-10 then I highly recommend the beginner version. If parents, teens, or older children are going to be present DO NOT get the beginner package. You will regret it. Get the regular paintball guns because it’s a blast! Just remember to wear lots of layers.
