Planning some remodeling? The two rooms where upgrades make the most difference to your home’s value are your kitchen and your bathroom. And sometimes, the best thing that you can do for the space is to update the plumbing fixtures. We’re talking about faucets, handles, spigots, and shower heads.

Here are some of the coolest ideas and hottest trends in sink and faucet design for both your kitchen and bathroom:

  • Integrated quartz or marble: Something that’s becoming more and more popular for luxury homes is a sink that’s integrated into the counter top of either your bathroom or kitchen. These sinks are amazing because of their seamless design, eliminating nooks and crannies that need to be scrubbed.
  • Pull out faucets: Although this is by no means a new idea, it continues to grab attention when it comes to both shower heads and kitchen faucets. Pull out faucets are able to be detached from the mount so that you can better maneuver the stream of water where you need it. Although early pull out faucets and shower heads often had limited mobility, and inconvenient hosing, these features are getting more and more sophisticated, streamlined, and flexible.
  • Waterfall faucets: Whether you’re installing a new sink in your own bathroom, or you want to make an impression at a restaurant or business, you’ll find that waterfall faucets are something that your guests will be surprised and delighted by. Waterfall faucets create a “waterfall” effect with a unique flow, often flattening water to glide over a surface before it spills into your hands. Waterfall faucets have a wide variety of appearance and creative design.
  • Brass and gold tones: Whether it’s matte or gloss, gold and brass tones create a great counterpoint to the grey that’s become really popular in bathrooms lately. Brass and gold highlights lend old-school warmth to a room, and they’re great when paired with other golden accents (i.e. mirror frame, lighting fixtures, etc.)
  • Touch faucets: These guys are a pretty big deal. Possible both in your kitchen and in your bathroom, you can now have a faucet that turns on and off simply with the tap of your finger, anywhere on the faucet. This is especially handy when you have messy hands from cooking, and allows you to easily turn off the flow when you’re brushing your teeth or washing your face.

Sometimes updating plumbing fixtures is a simple thing. Other times, it’s a little more involved, and getting the help of a contracted plumbing to sort things out is a wise move that will prevent leaks and damage in the future.
